Welcome to the first edition of Everbound.
I just had to begin Everbound with a classic, of course! Inside this first box you’ll find pieces influenced by the iconic Wuthering Heights written by Emily Brontë. It’s the talk of the season, and I for one, was very excited for Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation. So much so that my pals and I set off bright and early on launch day, clutching our coffees and our expectations. Now, 10:30am on a Friday is a bold time to be emotionally torn to pieces. It was intense. Dramatic. A little unnerving in spirit. There’s such a distinct aesthetic woven through it, the costumes are extraordinary and the set design feels lifted from a dream. I truly didn’t expect to cry, yet I found myself in floods of tears. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreakingly devastating, all at once.
I went in thoroughly, unapologetically over-prepared. This year alone I’ve reread the novel, listened to the audiobook, and revisited more than one television adaptation. I am, without question, fully and completely ‘Wuthered’ up. I’ve been living in that world for coming up to two months. And now that I’ve finally seen the film? I feel a little like I’ve stepped off the moors and back into ordinary life…..slightly dazed, a touch windswept, and wondering what on earth to do with myself next.
